Maggie Grace is an American actor who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington, Ohio to live at Los Angeles. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first part as Rachel's Room's main character the online video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. The role she played of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. film Murder In Greenwich in 2002, earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost on which she was the main actor for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to focus on an even more prominent role in film, appearing opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. The actress has also appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and in Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. In 2008, she played the same role on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace returned to Shannon's character on Lost for two more episodes, which included the finale of the series. She appeared in 2013's six-season of Californication. She plays Faith as a fan and muse of the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. Part of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first roles were in films starring her father when he was an adolescent. With her brother, she was also as a character in Donnie Darko (2000). Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received praise from critics for her lead performances in Secretary (2002 the erotic romance drama), and Sherrybaby (606), both that earned the actress Golden Globe Award nods. After several commercially successful films in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
